This is a piece designed to prevent your headphones from tangling in your pocket.
It works by attaching it to the headphones jack cable. Then, everytime before getting them into your pocket, you snag them as shown in the video.
When the headphones cables are attached like that (with all its extremes grabbed together), its almost impossible for them to get tangled.
