Hawken School and Natatorium

Hawken School is a Pre-K through twelve, independent school with two campuses in the Greater Cleveland area—a Lower & Middle School campus in Lyndhurst, Ohio, and an Upper School Campus in Gates Mills, Ohio. While each campus was founded with one or two historically and architecturally significant structures, indiscriminate growth and construction over the years has left each campus without a coherent visual identity. Additionally, tThis ad hoc development has created, on each campus, numerous organizational and infrastructure deficiencies that came to light as the institution was adapting to meet the needs of new academic programming and enrollment patterns. Furthermore, changes in both academic programs and enrollments have produced programmatic needs throughout both campuses. At the Gates Mills Campus, a new natatorium, for their world class swimming program, and renovation of their existing athletic complex was designedhas been designing by DMS/AS. The natatorium and other new construction – totaling approximately 30,000 square feet - includes an 8-lane by 25 yards, state-of-the-art, competition pool; spectator seating; locker rooms; support spaces; and a new common lobby. Renovations include converting an existing intramural gymnasium into the varsity, interscholastic fieldhouse and reopening the original campus entrance. #Education #Natatorium #School #Sports
