The Stadium and Arch was originally called the 'Adobe Flatts.' During the dedication of the Stadium, October 27-30, 1926, a three day program was held. The play 'Hiawatha' was performed and a buffalo barbecue. In addition to this a Haskell-Bucknell football game was played. Haskell won 36-0. During the dedication program, Jim Thorpe and John Levi gave an exhibition. Thorpe did the kicking and Levi did the passing. In the 'Believe it or Not' section of the Kansas City Star they made the statement that John Levi made an 83 yard pass. The Haskell Stadium was the first lighted stadium in the Middle West. The stadium and arch are also named historical sites by the National Historical Society. #American #arch #building #component #education #football #geography #gis #Haskell #hinu #history #Indian #Kansas #ku #landmark #Lawrence #memorial #model #nation #native #school #sketchup #stadium #university
