Bondovic passed leader Wood at half distance and then held off Fisichella after Wood suffered a puncture. Alvaro Parente got his campaign back on track with a podium for ORT, ahead of pole sitter Wood, who passed cars late on to salvage 4th,, setting fastest lap in the process. Bourdais returned to the points with 5th, ahead of the impressive Aston Martin of Justin Wilson. Bruno Senna suffered from tyre wear and dropped to 13th at 1 point, he took new tyres late on to get 7th. Grosjean took points with his new team with 8th. Hunter-Reay got his first points with 9th, ahead of he unusually impressive Soucek, who passed many en route to 10th. Elsewhere, Rahal was black flagged for causing both Audi drivers to crash, driver replacements Paul Tracy and Juan Villa had contrasting races, with Tracy doing well to get 14th, while Villa crashed after qualifying badly.
