This is the basic cut info for a layered Bombardier bilevel passenger car, as seen on GO Transit/Metrolink/Coaster etc. trains.
This layout has 1 exterior and 3 interior layers on a 300mm-square (1') sheet.
The interior layers have a "stair" ramp from lower to mid-level, and another from mid-level to the top-level. I laid 2 layers in one direction, the the other 2 in the other direction so the tiny people could climb to the top floor.
I used a 6.35mm-thick sheet (1/4"), set into 6 layers, which roughly fits the scale -- 90% of HO, or 3:261. It might look better to have the exteriors be thinner to match the actual wall thickness -- 3mm or thinner sheets, with 1 or 2 more interior layers.
I added HO wheelsets. I had to use metal ones, since the plastic ones couldn't handle the girth of these cars. I also want to try one with Brio wheels.
I had no idea how enormous these things actually are. They dwarf all the other train cars that I have, even at 90% scale.
Couplers should also connect to the ends at a decent height.
There is a hole on each side for inserting a 6.4mm (1/4") dowel to keep the layers aligned.
I recommend sandwiching a piece of this transparent film inside the exterior for the tiny windows.
