This is the first model I created independently, and I'm pretty happy with my work! I wouldn't call this a basing solution, but rather a basing addon or basing interface. For the past year, like many of us, I've been playing Gloomhaven with friends over video conference. I point a camera at the board and handle all of the monster movement, and the other players tell me what they're doing and I move them around. Our biggest issue was always that it was hard for players to tell what number the monsters were.
This basing interface solves that problem by making the base large (10mm tall) with six numbers spaced around the base all in the lovely Gloomhaven Pirata font! I paint the bases black, then paint the numbers either white or yellow, depending on whether the monster is elite or normal. Finally, I superglue a 19mm steel disc into the recess in the top of the base.
Doing all of this means that my miniatures just need to have a small magnet glued into the bottom side of the base! So when you need to place that normal or elite living corpse, you just take your magnetized living corpse and place it on top of the appropriate numbered base! When I play, I have 2 sets of all numbers 0-9 in white and 2 sets of all numbers 0-9 in yellow, and I've not had any issues with "running out of numbers."
I find it to be an elegant system that addresses multiple problems I had in hosting remote games, and my fellow players LOVE it!
It's worth noting that this is even helpful for players who don't want miniatures, but just want monster numbers to be more visible! You could easily take a drill and drill a hole in the bottom of the stock gloomhaven standee holders and glue in a small magnet. Then you could set those standees on top of this base and you numbers are immediately more recognizable!
I hope you find the design helpful either directly or in providing you inspiration for your own work!
