GIRO.remix - Gorillagrill / Gorilla Fan Duct Cover
General
This is a remix of paul0's Gorillagrill for the Gorilla fan duct also made by paul0. This Gorillagrill must be mounted infront of the 30mm fan of the Chimera hotend. You will need longer M3 screws to mount the Gorillagrill. Be sure to use a proper length because I already noticed that if you use shorter screws it might damage the thread in the Chimera hotend as it did in my case. So be patient and careful when mounting the Gorillagrill.
I also changed the primary design. When firstly printing the original Gorillagrill, which is included with the Gorilla Fan Duct, I noticed that there were a few things which made it hard to have a good fit. The first thing was the design of the offsets around the screw holes on the back of the Gorillagrill. These were a bit too short. I noticed that the Gorillagrill bend and the top surface wasn't aligning properly with the top surface of the Gorilla fan duct. So I redesigned these offsets and made them a bit longer to make sure that everything is aligned nicely. These Gorillagrills are also usable with a BLTouch if you use the BLTouch Mount created by me. Make sure to use the correct BLTouch mounting. Its named GIRO_BLTouch_Mount_Radial_Fan_Fang. The other BLTouch mountings do have the problem that they have an additional support structure which helps to align the mounting correctly and parallel to the ground surface and the carriage of the X-axis.
Right now there are two versions of the Gorillagrill. The first design has longholes as air ventilation canals. The second one uses a honeycomb design to secure air ventilation. Both versions are available with a BLTouch hole where the wires of the BLTouch can be pushed through.
I would like to mention that these Gorillagrills are optimized for a 30x30x10mm cooling fan on the Chimera hotend because I noticed that there are also 30x30x8mm cooling fans on the market.
Printing
I would highly recommend to use exactly 2 perimeters because otherwise some areas aren't going to get really solid. Print with a lower speed, for example 45 mm/s, to get a more accurate printing. I also recommend to disable the "Coast at End" and "Wipe Nozzle" feature because I noticed that the mounting is not going to get really solid then. Also print with 100% infill.
Additional Information
If you need some advice for the offset settings then I can give you the following tip as a first calibration step. You might need to change these offsets due to print quality and mounting differences.
#define X_PROBE_OFFSET_FROM_EXTRUDER 0
#define Y_PROBE_OFFSET_FROM_EXTRUDER -35.5
#define Z_PROBE_OFFSET_FROM_EXTRUDER -0.77
Additional Information
Let me know if there are any kind of problems with this bracket. I will try to help and if neccessary correct the design. I appreciate any kind of feedback to this bracket.
If you like my work and find it really usefull then I would be very happy if you give me a small tip as an appreciation for my work. For all of you who gave me a tip.
