The GI Joe Slugger from 1984. A lightweight 6 wheeled vehicle with a massive gun mounted on top. What could possibly go wrong?
The .30 cal is a little too delicate for the scale that I print so if you need to add one for your own copy you'll have to improvise a little...
I did not have the toy in hand when I modeled it so I used the blueprints, online pictures and probably a few estimates. Although the file was created in full scale it is optimized for printing at 25%. Unless you stay in that range your print may have too much or too little detail.
A big ‘thank you’ to Chris who provided some key dimensions from his old toy. If it wasn’t for him I would not have made this.
My finished model weighs 12 grams so it cost me about $0.25 for the material to print each one.
This file is free to download but please note that it is listed as “non-commercial” because this is a “copy” of someone else's intellectual property and not my own design. One note about the howitzer: It was designed to be a tight fit into the chassis. I had to sand down the sides [of the square end] slightly to get it to fit. This way (if you like) you don't have to glue the gun in place but it will stay at the elevation you choose.
Much respect and gratitude to past and present members of our Armed Forces, you are the “Real American Heroes”. Your sacrifice allows people like me to live in peace, freedom and make silly little toys like these.
