GE Dash 8-40C - Pan Am Railways - MEC 7552

The Dash 8-40C, also known as the C40-8, is a six axle locomotive manufactured by General Electric Transportation from 1987 to 1992. 25 of these locomotives were built for Conrail. Later, the locomotives were divided between Norfolk Southern and CSX, and 45 more of these locomotives were added to CSX's roster. Pan Am Railways then obtained 24 of the locomotives after CSX retired their fleet, with many being sold to GECX or for scrap, The only surviving Ex. Conrail unit on Pan Am's roster is MEC 7489. MEC 7552 was the first of Pan Am Railway's Dash 8-40C fleet to wear their navy blue paint scheme.
