UPDATE: I overestimated the ability of PLA to hold up to the tension of the rubber bands, leading to EXPLODING CLIP syndrome... I redesigned the part to be solid. You should insert the rubber bands on both clips before installing on the printer.
This is my first blender based 3D printer part. I saw several different solutions to tighten up the G2S spider and diagonal rods that seem to have a lot of play in them. I also noticed that some of the ball ends in my kit had really sloppy tolerances and others were tight. None of the solutions out there did anything to keep the rods parallel. I noticed that the ball ends are flat and a good location for a clip rather than the 6mm rods.
Perhaps this is a solution looking for a problem, but based on the theory that consistency = accuracy, I decided to make a clip that keeps the rods parallel and also eliminates the play in the ball ends.
I borrowed the rubber bands from my kids bracelet kit. Work great!
