FROG’s Fountain by Josep Campeny in Barcelona, 1919

La Font de la Granota is the work of Josep Campeny, an Igualadian sculptor from the prestigious Escola Llotja, who was also the author of two other fountains in the same program, that of La Trinxa in Calle Pelayo with Universidad and that of Noi dels Cantirs in La Urquinaona Square.

Located in a most charming corner, between the beginning of Calle Córcega and Avenida Diagonal, the Font de la Granota represents a boy in a relaxed attitude holding a frog from which the water flows. It is of naturalist inspiration and modernist style, showing the scene with great realism. The sculpture contains a beautiful ornamented base with floral motifs and the municipal coat of arms. The sculpture is made of bronze and the pedestal in Montjuic stone.
