French 75mm Field Gun Model 1897
The "French 75" was revolutionary when it first entered service in the French army in 1897. It combined, for the first time, a long recoil system, trail spade, fixed (one-piece) ammunition, independent line-of-sight, abatage, automatic fuse-setter, and a quick-functioing breach system into a single artillery piece. A few earlier pieces had some, but not all, of these features. The French 75 was the principle French light field artillery piece of WW1, and survived in various forms well into WW2. For instance, the US Army entered WW2 using their variant of the 75 as an anti-tank gun, sometines mounted on a halftrack to improve mobility.
Note that some of the tabs fit very tightly in their slots and the slots might need to be opened a bit.
