2018-09-29: I have uploaded 2 more clips, one at 95% and one at 97% of the width of the original. For my printer I'm finding the 97% is a good amount of "tightness" for holding the lid closed, and having it easy enough to open. I would suggest you test with your printer once you have done a complete print, and see how each size works for you (it's a tiny amount of plastic with just the clip, so an easy test :)
2018-09-21: Having socket and a separate clip appears to be working (see attached STL's). Having the clip print flat rather than vertical is making it a lot stronger as the main stress on the join is not across the short edge of the clip (if that makes sense). The biggest issue is they work too well at the moment - it's a bit hard to separate the top and bottom. I have also removed the central divider on the lid so it's easier to angle the lid up from the base when opening. I'll play around with making the clips slightly smaller when I get a chance and continue to update (maybe a few days). Latest changes are also on github.
2018-09-21: I'm finding the clips way to brittle. I think the reasons are each layer is naturally not as strong as a horizontal run, and with the head having to go side to side between each clip, there is not as much material as there should be (stringing, retraction etc), making it even weaker. I'm working on another idea where it's just sockets on both the top and bottom, and the clips are printed separately (heavily inspired by OpenLOCK from www.printablescenery.com). I'll update as these get printed and I have a chance to test them in practice.
2018-09-20: Updated the thickness of the clips to 1.5mm (allowing for a 3 pass wide clip with a 0.4mm nozzle). This will still fit in the box, and makes the clips a lot stronger.
This is just the Player Tokens box to see if others are interested. I'm starting to mess around with some actual clips to hold the lids on (rather than relying on the friction from the alignment circles).
This works better than expected given how thin they are, but at 1mm I'm concerned it'll break off. I didn't want to make it any bigger as to do that I'll need to increase the size of the box (and there are so many they'll all need to get bigger, potentially making it hard to fit in the box, but still testing).
Any constructive feedback welcome. I'll update if I do further tweaking.
