Ford engineers in their infinite wisdom decided that a 5mm long steel pin wedged between a gap the size of a picture frame was a great design.
Tested on Ford F-150 2009 to 2014. Should fit a 2015-2020. Same Part Number.
I decided to create this very simple cap that you can press fit on to the pin where you can tie a parachord to and pull the pin without getting bruised fingers.
This is a very simple design that is not complicated and takes about 30 minutes to create.
Infill 100%
Looks like a sewing bobbin. Fits in between the pin and the bracket against the wall.
There are 2 versions.
The 6.6mm is a tight fit that may need pliers to get on.
The 6.7mm is snug fit that can be installed with your hand.
Instructions:
Firmly press the caps on to the end of the steel pin. 2. Tie a rope or parachord to the groove. Hitch is preferred.
Tie the other end to head rest.
Return the seat back to the upright position. Make sure the latch is engaged to the bar on the back wall. The should be secure. If it fails to engage the latch adjust the bar either up or down until the latch is positioned with the bar.
The cap should not interfere with the U-bracket. If it does press it down the pin until it is seated.
Make sure it’s not too snug against the latch frame. There should be a slight gap for free movement.
