This is a compact folding desk extension that is inexpensive to create. All units in millimeters unless otherwise noted. The GRABCAD preview rendering is not accurate. Please download the model and view the correct model.

MATERIALS FOR BASIC MODEL(flexible, use what you have/what works):
Two - 2ft x 2ft x 3/4in plywood sheets
One - 1/2in x 2ft mild weldable steel square tubing
One - 1/2in x 3ft mild weldable steel square tubing
One - 3/8in x 3ft mild weldable steel round stock
Two - 1/4in-20 x 2in countersink machine screws
Six - 1/4in-20 hex nuts
Four - 1/4in x 1in fender washers
Two - 1/4in-20 x 3/4in thumbscrews
Two - 5/32in x 3/8in rubber washers
Eight - 18mm diameter x 5mm thick ceramic magnets(neodymium also OK)
Two - 50mm x 32mm cabinet hinges
Six - 8/32in x 1in countersink machine screws and nuts(only buy if you are using bolts and nuts to mount hinge to desk, using wood screws that come with the hinges is fine too)
Six - #8 x 3/4in countersink wood screws(ones that come with hinge is fine too)
-Epoxy
-Spray paint(optional)
-Loctite(optional)
-Edge banding/edge veneer(optional)
