I needed to get my FlightAware antenna a little higher to clear my metal roof, so I designed this antenna mounting system. The antenna top fits the standard FlightAware 1090 Mhz ADS-B antenna. There are two different bottom mounts, depending on if you intend to mount to a horizontal surface (the straight bottom mount) or vertical (the 90-degree bottom mount). Four holes are provided to screw the bottom mount of your choice to the surface. The bottom and top mounts are designed to accept a standard 3/4" diameter PVC pipe between them so you can make the antenna mast as high as you wish.
I used the 90-degree mount to attach the antenna to my fascia board and it clears the roof edge nicely (see pics). I used a scrap piece of PVC, about 24" long, for added elevation and I'm now picking up many more planes which were previously blocked by the roof. When installed, the antenna cable is fully enclosed inside the two mounts and the PVC pipe for a clean look. I designed the parts using Tinkercad and intended them to look a little retro. Finally, I put a little caulk around the connections (not sure if it's really necessary given the tight fit) and spray painted everything with a grey paint to color match the parts and help protect the plastic from the Florida sun. Enjoy!
