From 1782 to 1809 After the fall of the Kingdom of Thonburi in 1782, the new king Rama I moved the capital to Rattanakosin, the royal city that he had built and which was the nucleus of today's Bangkok. He founded the Chakri Dynasty, which still reigns in the country, and even the State of Siam took the name of the Kingdom of Rattanakosin. In the naval sign the white symbol of the Sudarshana Chakra was introduced, the disk-shaped weapon with which fought the Indian divinity Vishnu, particularly venerated in Theravada Buddhism, the religion of the country.
