The Swiss flag is square in red with a white Greek cross in the center. The choice of colors dates back to the Holy Roman German Empire and the shape of the flag originates in the battles of the late 14th century, although the size of the cross has undergone many changes: in the 15th and 16th centuries the flag was a triangular red cloth with a white cross that extended to the edges; in the 19th century the symbol became a white cross made up of 5 equal squares on a red background; starting from 1889 the current form was adopted in which the length of each arm of the cross is 1/6 of its width, while the background remains unchanged. The Red Cross flag derives from the Swiss flag, to which the colors have been inverted #flag #Switzerland
