The flag of Terranova and Labrador was adopted on 28 May 1980 and was designed by the Terranova artist Christopher Pratt. The flag with a white background has four blue triangles on the left and two white triangles with a red border and a golden arrow with a red border on the right. On the left side the four blue triangles are reminiscent of the Union Flag and represents the British heritage of the province. The two triangles represent the two areas of the province, the island and the continental part. The golden arrow symbolizes a bright future; when the flag is placed vertically the arrow becomes a sword, in honor of the sacrifice of the Terranova and Labrador soldiers. The blue color represents the sea, the white the snow and the ice of winter, the red the effort and the struggle of the inhabitants of the province, the gold color represents self-confidence and in the future. The two parts of the province have their own flag. #flag #Newfoundland #Labrador #Canada
