Flag of Grenada

The flag of Grenada was adopted in 1974. The seven stars represent the seven parishes of the nation, with the central one inserted in a red circle that refers to the diocese of Saint George's, the capital. Red, yellow and green symbolize courage, sun and agriculture respectively. Also known in the past as Spice Island ('island of spices') due to the large quantity of nutmeg, cloves, cinnamon and turmeric (called 'saffron of the indies') that grows there; this feature is well highlighted in fact in the left green part of the flag, where a stylized nutmeg has been inserted. #flag #Grenada
