The St. George's Cross is a flag consisting of a red cross on a white background; graphically it is complementary to the cross of St. John the Baptist. Originally the flag of the Republic of Genoa and used by the Crusaders, it was later adopted by many other cities. It was the symbol of the pro-papal Guelphs in the Middle Ages. #flag #Genoa #Liguria
