This is a mod to upgrade the original axis endstop micro-switch (+/-0.1mm) with a gen7 type optical encoder (+/-0.015mm). These are pretty cheap off ebay ( £7per 3off at time of writing).
The tab is fixed to the carriage & breaks the beam of the optical switch. It is long enough to work with the slight overtravel during the Fisher datum routine.
I printed the blocks in pla & friction welded them in place with pla filament & dremmel. The endstop is screwed into the holes in the block using wood screws. The tabs are centred with unit raised & stuck in place with some fletching adhesive ( I haven't got round to spin welding them ).
The endstop pins are bent & soldered so the fixed cable is routed out of the way of the Bowden tube.
The switch type is S1 in the config.
To set the XYZ axis offsets in the config file you will go though the normal iterative process (using the measuring macro & subtracting the errors from the previous config offsets). It is stable once done.
NB Existing micro-switches only use 2 wires ( switching Ground ) new 3rd wire is the +3v supply.
