I had a Honeywell quietCare 17000 that the digital controls broke. I wanted to adapt the HEPA filter to attach to a 6" squirrel cage blower fan I had so I could still use it to purify air.
This is a parametric bracket that allows you to mount a round filter to a squirrel cage fan. Please do not print this off blindly - you will need to possibly adjust it to fit your fan and filter situation.
http://google.com/search?q=honeywell+quietcare+true+hepa+17000s&source=lnms&tbm=isch This is what I had. You could also I suppose just buy this HEPA filter. I like it because you can vacuum it out and it came with a prefilter that has kept the regular filter clean many years.
In theory though any round HEPA filter could mount to any squirrel cage fan with this.
I had started making holes to fit the mount holes on the side of the fan, but it was easier to just print it without holes and drill them where they belonged.
Hopefully this will be a head start for anyone trying the same thing.
My use case is creating a negative pressure room for possible situation in coronavirus pandemic where I might need to isolate family members and ensure their aerosolized virus does not spread to other rooms. But this is a high volume air filter and could be used like that also.
Notice I scavanged a threaded insert that goes into the top of this bracket to hold the filter lid on. You could adjust this to have threads printed directly into the model if you wanted; but I had a heat gun and just melted the original honeywell casing in order to get this insert out so i pressed it in. It fit very nicely.
