I printed one of the excellently designed FDL-1 robotic foam dart launchers. (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1651854)
Unfortunately the handle didn't fit my smaller hands well. This is a more ergonomic handle taken from a real life gun and modified to be a little more foam darty while preserving as much of the original FDL-1 look and functionality as possible.
I'm using a 1050mAh battery I was able to aquire locally. I'll know soon if the hit to run time is an issue.
You'll need:
2 m2.5 bolts to hold the microswitch to the handle,
1 6-32 socket head cap screw, to screw into the top of the trigger. It pushes the lever of the microswitch.
3 countersunk style 6-32 bolts to hold the handle to the handle plate
a tiny microswitch to fit the slot in the plate. You may need to file the plate slightly to get the lever of the microswitch to clear it.
the same 6-32 tap you used to clear the holes on the FDL-1
Print settings are identical to the FDL-1 except that I have not oriented the parts for best printing.
The handle also requires support, print it inverted with the flange side down.
Print the piece that attaches the guard to the main body the same as the original (the guard slot has only been widened slightly)
The guard has been widened slightly to fully cover the slot in the bottom of the handle. It should be printed on it's side
-The trigger should be printed with it's top side down.
The base has a thin wall near the microswitch hole. Break it off after printing. Run your microswitch wire up the channel and under the tabs. Print it tab-side down (rounded edges up)
Note: this is the handle only. See the original blaster for the rest.
Edit: The unedited OnShape document is on the original FDL-1 page, and this is a link to my version with myhandle modifications. Thanks Jessie for letting me convert that for public use!
