The creation of an independent Faculty of Management and Economics with its headquarters in Zlín, and an off-shoot of the Brno University of Technology, grew out of the sudden need for development of the Moravian micro-regions of Zlín, Uherské Hradiště, Kroměříž, Vsetín and Hodonín and especially from the necessity for the dynamic development of the industrial, commercial, and public sector administration institutions of the eastern Moravian micro-regions.
