Ethiopian Airlines was founded on the 21st of December in 1945 and commenced operations on the 8th of April in 1946 from Addis Ababa Bole International Airport. The airline is wholly owned by the Ethiopian government and is one of the biggest airlines from Africa. Ethiopian Airlines became a Star Alliance member in December 2011. The airline took delivery of its first Boeing 777-300(ER) in November 2013. Ethiopian Airlines currently operates 4 Boeing 777-300(ER)s of which 2 are leased Boeing 777-36N(ER)s.
