Electronic configuration Einstenium (or einsteinium) is the chemical element with atomic number 99 and its symbol is Es. It is a highly radioactive metal and is the seventh of the transuranic elements; belongs to the series of actinides. It is produced by plutonium bombardment with neutrons and was detected in the remains of the first hydrogen bomb test. It takes its name from Albert Einstein and has no known uses.
