Entombment of Hautrage, master of the entombment of Hautrage, Hainaut, 1502 - 1505, limestone, polychrome, provenance: Saint-Sulpice d’Hautrage church (Hainaut). Musée d’Art et d’Histoire (Musée du Cinquantenaire, Brussels, Belgium). Made of 350 pictures with RealityCapture.
Two stories are combined here in one scene: the entombment of Christ and the holy women at the sepulcher on Easter morning. The anonymous sculptor - called for this reason the master of the entombment of Hautrage - probably drew inspiration from the mysteries. He has developed a particular style where the faces are imbued with distinction, youthfulness and meditation. The pleats of the clothes are sober and vertical.
