This model depicts a facility without a ceiling and without the front wall. The two air conditioner units on the left and right exterior walls would have a wall around them and an access door in front of them as well as an air intake vent, on the exterior sides of the building. Hence the model is open to allow for viewing of the inside and the air conditioning units. In this version of the cryptocurrency mining facility model I am using two 5 ton air conditioners (depicted on the exterior walls of the model) of the evaporative type manufactured by Coolerado which reduce cooling cost by an average 80% (in some cases more) as compared to refrigerant type of air conditioners that use compressors, these do not have compressors and use a mere blower with water. They are rated 750 watts total power consumption but provide the cooling capacity of a 5 ton air conditioner each. Here is what the manufacturer says' 'M50B Delivers up to 5 tons (17.6 kW) of cooling capacity* and draws a maximum of 750 watts of power at full flow. The conditioned air is cooled without added humidity. The fan is sized to handle most ducted applications and will deliver 1,350 CFM (2,294 CMH or 635 L/S) of conditioned air. The filters in this unit are removed from the front above the fan. The unit weighs 370 lbs (168 kg) dry (shipping) and approximately 420 lbs (190 kg) wet (operating).' The working cooling load is 60053.6992 Btu/h per unit. (60 kBtu/h) The power savings cost of this unit per month can be examined by comparing the cost of the working load capacity of 17.6 kW with the actual power consumption of 0.75 kW at 12 cents a kWh. 17.6 kW * $0.12 kWh = $2.12 per hour 0.75 kW * $0.12 kWh = $0.09 per hour The 80% cost savings rating is relative to compressor type refrigerant air conditioners with their SEER rating. This facility is designed to start off with 16 mining rigs each of which hold 6 to 8 GPUs. Bitmain or Dragonmint miners can be added as depicted in the work room. In the winter air is taken in through louvered blowers which blow into the two hallways, this air is then drawn in through the air filters in the wall aided by the blowers on the rigs and the exhaust fans in the rear of the room, two exhaust fans can be located in the ceiling in the front of the room and two in the rear as an option to even the air flow through the room (assuming a small office room is added to the front of the facility along with an on site bathroom). The louvers on the fans should be such that the open when the fans operate and close when they are off, this means automation of the processes and hence automatically closing off the drafts. In the summer the two Coolerado air conditioning units are used to keep the inside cool. Their air is exhausted into the two hallways just like the winter air. A modest 3 kW Grid Assisted solar panel set up to power the air conditioners and the winter time blowers is affordable with this set up. This leaves the cost of the miners in terms of power cost and the cost of lighting and PC equipment. As of January 2018 Kentucky is ready to take advantage of the Trump Administration tax reduction for power companies and they are projecting cost reductions for the consumer. The cost savings per month using the cooling system described in this model add up to hundreds of dollars per month. To compute how much you can save assume the air conditioners run 24 hours a day. The cost of running the two Coolerado air conditioners per month would be $64.80. In looking at ways to reduce the energy consumption cost of a data mining operation, this was the best way I could conceive of doing so, and also allowing for the addition of a modest solar panel set up to reduce cost further which in some cases could have a rebate associated with the use of solar electrical power. Another interesting thing about the way these air conditioners work is that they use outside air in two streams, one stream to evaporate water to cool the other split off stream of air which is sent into the building. The air in the building is constantly being exhausted to the outside because of the cooled incoming air stream, a vent or blower is used to exhaust the interior air. This means that latent heat in the air is being exhausted outside. Furthermore the unusual thing about this system is that the hotter the exterior air, the more efficient the cooling since hotter air taken in from the outside into the coolers means an increased rate of evaporation and hence an increased rate of cooling. Naturally I am interested in cryptocurrency mining operations and investments. I believe in looking at ways to reduce cost without having to move to countries where the cost of electricity is lower than here. No miner really wants to travel around the globe looking for a place to mine where they can make lots of profit. Instead the right investment and design approach can allow for good profits in one's back yard if they so choose. Investors who help miners can easily double their investment much sooner than investing in other types of investments. Much sooner than investing in buying the coins when you can earn coins by mining their block chain (ledgers). I believe that once people understand this model, this will change the way in which data mining operations are engineered from small back yard operations to large industrial sized facilities. These models depict small operations and how to make them profitable. This model depicts one in which a profit on the magnitude of $150,000 a year is possible using the current cryptocurrency mining profits calculators. Or rather lets say each mining rig profits the miner $800 a month mining the best of currencies. Hence mining is better than investing in the coin itself, and there are as of January 2018, 614 minable currencies out of some 1400 cryptocurrencies hence lots of potential in the coming years, regardless of what Bitcoin may or may not do which is only one of the currencies available to mine. #cryptocurrency_mining #energy_efficiency #energy_efficient_cooling
