A replacement case cover for the Ender 5 Plus, allowing you to mount two Noctua 92mm fans to keep the system cool, and quiet.
The main reason I did this was to prevent the power supply fan from turning on, as it's louder than most commercial airliners. The power supply fan is still in place however, I've not had it turned on once since installing this mod.
I de-lidded the power supply so that it could receive direct airflow from the Noctua fan above it. My Ender 5 Plus came with the Mean Well RSP-500-24 PSU, so is temperature regulated therefore, adding the additional cool airflow helped to keep the power supply below the threshold to turn the fan on.
The cover comes in two parts, for ease of printing. Bill of materials is as follows:
Original case bolts (x6),
2x M3x20 bolts,
M3x16 bolts (just enough to hold the fans in, minimum 4 - two per fan),
2x Noctua 92mm fan.
Installation is pretty straight forward and is illustrated in the pictures. In my application, I used Noctua's 92x14mm fans due to their low profile. Other 92mm fans may also work, but are untested.
The fans are connected via one of the splitters that the fans come with, through a buck converter providing 12V from the power supply, meaning that the fans are always on.
