This is a top-mounted spool holder for the Ender 5, though it will work on any 2040 extrusion. With direct drive, feed the filament over the top. With Bowden, you can feed it under using a top-mounted extruder (example of Bowden setup is in the picture).
The arm can be rotated to one of four positions and is locked in place with an M4 screw that is 10-15mm long. The top piece (Top.stl) can be rotated in any of eight directions and locks in place with another M4 screw of similar length.
Alternatively there are three files for a one piece print. This is a harder print and the direction can't be adjusted, but it will be sturdier.
In short, you will need to print:
Top.stl
Base.stl
Arm.stl Updated 21/01/09
or you can print one of the three single pieces.
The top piece works with any Filler-compatible spool holder, including my own ReFiller project.
Needed parts:
4x M4-8 machine screws
4x M4 T-nuts
2x M4-10, M4-12, or M4-15 screws
See my extruder stand/PTFE guide, too. If you're on stock, the extruder stand will let you use the spool holder. If you're on direct drive, the PTFE guide is handy as an intake.
Update 2021-01-09
I uploaded a new version of Arm.stl with a second screw hole around the back. This should give more support against the weight of the spool.
