Work in Progress
This is a mainboard box for the SKR 1.3 board to be attached to the rear of a modified Ender 3 with the EnderExtender 400XL modification. Box has multiple exits for wiring as well as tilt-in tabs plus M3 bolt holes to attach to 8020 strut on its side.
Since the far end of the box is unsupported, recommend printing in PETG (PLA will deform over time under compression) as well as supporting it from below with some rubber feet.
Two version:
1) Normal box with top exhaust fan.
2) Box with hole cut for stepper motor cooling shroud that will pull in cold air from outside, also includes top fan to exhaust.
Update 1/24/2020:
After reviewing the ender3 CAD model, looks like my M3 bolt holes were too high to interface with a T-Slot nut in the center of the channel. I have adjusted (with rough rectangular holes) this and expanded them to fit M4 bolts, and uploaded a new modified file which should line up. Intending to use T-slot nuts such as this: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1061769
Update 1/25/2020:
TLDR: New v3 box and separated lid file. Box is better.
After printing the first revision I've made a few changes. The v3 revision of the box now has no lips on the bottom set of extrusion interfaces, this means the box can be rocked into place and then secured by the T-Slot nuts whereas before it had to be fed into the end of the extrusion. If you have another extrusion blocking access to the end, such as in the Ender Extender 400, this means you can now add/remove the box without disassembling the extrusions. I have also reinforced a couple weak areas, but the box is still pretty lightweight. I will eventually work on the driver duct version but for now its lacking these last two revision changes.
Update: 1/25/2020 mk2:
I have added a prototype lid for the box that supports the drag chain here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2920060 -- Also added a screenshot of it mocked up with the Ender3 CAD files. It results in a roughly 60mm bend radius top to bottom, which is a bit tight for the hated bed wires but hopefully will work.
