The EMD GP40 is a General Purpose series locomotive built by GM-EMD from 1965 to 1971. This example was built for the New York Centrail railroad and was originally numbered 3050. This engine was then absorbed into Conrail's roster, and then was subsequently purchased by Guilford Transportation Industries in the 1980s, where it was designated MEC (Maine Central) 305. As of today, the locomotive still bears its Guilford Rail System paint scheme and operates regularly on Pan Am local revenue freight runs. Credit to Fat_Bear for the GP39-2 used to make this GP40. I am grateful for his generosity. #train #pan_am_railways #diesel #maine_central #railroad
