These systems can be used to generate evolving multicolored fractals and beautiful three dimensional shapes. The idea behind the systems is that each cell takes a value between zero and one, and each time step we update the value of each cell (simultaneously) using a simple rule based upon averaging. In the video I explain how the systems can be used to generate beautiful multicolored fractals which evolve through time. The way the system runs is just determined by a single parameter value, and if one changes this parameter then the generate pattern shifts in a very intricate and aesthetically pleasing way. I also describe how three dimensional versions of these continuous cellular automata can be used to generate intricate solids (like the 3D printed one).
