Modified the Front Rod holders to add a cutout so that it will be easier to align the Y axis Rods.
The current design has a hole in the front brackets that you must insert the rods into. This puts inward pressure on the rods making them closer together at the front of the machine. Since the front of the rods are captured there is no way to shim them outward if necessary. The modified holders have a cutout that allows you to shim them as needed. Just use cut strips of paper as shims (approx 8mm wide).
I also enlarged the cutout for the rods to 10.1 mm for a little more room. If you only print out the front holders, you will need to add at least one shim of paper to each side. (paper is 0.1 mm)
So how do I tell if the rods are parallel, you ask? It's easy, take your calipers and place the head of the caliper against one rod and extend the caliper until the depth measurement pin hits the other rod (see last two pics). The actual number you get is not important, what is important is that you get the same reading at the front and at the back of the rods. Shim with strips of paper until you get the same reading on each end.
Use the same Rod clamps that you currently have. The only change to the rear holders is that I enlarged the rod hole to mach the front. If you use them you may not need to use any shims.
