When I started printing vehicles I often was frustrated about the deficient print quality and the awful cleaning work.
So I decided to divide the object into several parts.
The focus is on print quality and avoiding support structures.
After printing, the parts have to be glued together.
Meanwhile I printed and built some models in this way.
I publish the print files for all users who like to have quick and good prints results.
Finally, let me thank the original designers of the models. They are important for our community.
I only cut their models into several pieces ... nothing else.
This time I worked on the SU-85.
I took this object, cut it into several pieces and printed it with my FDM printer at a scale of 1/72. The attached stl-files are scaled to 1/100.
The lower section of the hull and the spare track was printed without support.
The upper section of the hull was printed with support. The barrel and one sidelight needed support. It was easy to clean.
The tracks were also printed with support. There was only a little bit support below the rollers. It was easy to clean.
I added an upper hull section without barrel for those who like to build the model with a more realistic gun barrel. I prefer ear cleaning rods as new barrel. The original barrel of the model seems to big. (Use file D-... instead of file B-...)
Update 05.04.2015
I added an additional lower hull section consisting of 3 parts. It can be printed without support and offers better printing results. Use the new E-... file instead the old A-... file.
