The E3D J-head fan is barely enough for the hotend. You tend to get lots of clogs in the PTFE throat with the included 3030 fan, especially if it is a clone hot-end rather than the original.
This mod allows you to mount a 4040 fan instead.
Note: I have not printed this but will do it and test it out for myself.
