This printable mount allows for a E3D hotend to be mounted to the existing BFB 3D touch carriage. I've been using this setup for over a year with the same printed parts with no problems. Very rigid.
Follow the 3D systems instructions for removing an old hotend:http://www.3dsystems.com/shop/support/legacy/manuals
Required hardware:
3 x M3 x 15mm SHCS
3 x m3 nylon lock nuts
3 x m3 washers (I super glued the washers to the printed mount to make it easier to screw on).
I opted for re-using the tiny Hotend PCB board (made it easier for disconnecting and servicing the hotends). Re-soldering the hotend to the PCB board was a huge pain though.
The 100k ohm Thermistor the comes with the E3D won’t work with the stock 3D touch board.
I purchased a half-dozen 200k ohm thermistors from Mouser Electronics (super cheap).http://ca.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Semitec/204GT-2/?qs=%2fha2pyFaduiQiQmymLPXOWNnX3SMQrY3ZQhjlQOT21s%3d
Due to how fast the e3d hotend heats up it may overshoot during heating but it doesn’t seem to bother print quality much.
There’s a google group discussion on this very topic for more info:https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/cubex-3d-printing/XfibDe2kkbU%5B101-125%5D
Caution: May change how high the nozzle sits when reassembled. Z-offset will need to be re-set otherwise the nozzle may crash into the bed.
-I recommend setting the z-offset to something like 12mm away from the nozzle before disassembling
