The Dulce Nombre de Maria Cathedral-Basilica stands in the capital of Hagatña and serves as the Mother Church for the Archdiocese of Agaña. As a “model church” for parishes and faith communities, it is where the Archbishop celebrates the Church’s most sacred liturgies with clergy, religious and the lay community. The contemporary design boasts a simple prayerful atmosphere. Handcrafted stained-glass is spread throughout the church overlooking the central altar that can be seen from all angles. The 50 year-old structure embodies the faith brought by Blessed Diego and his companion martyr Blessed Pedro Calungsod in 1669.
