Description
This rack makes it easy to accurately aliquot dual index primers from the NEBNext Multiplex Oligos for Illumina (E7600) kit, because it holds the oligo tubes in the right spacing (9mm center to center) for a multichannel pipette. The primers come in screw cap tubes that have an outer diameter of about 8.13mm, so they don't fit well in other standard racks. I assume that Illumina Dual Index primers come in the same tube, but I've never worked with them.
If there is "filament junk" in the primer tube holes, the fit can be tight. I just cleaned out the holes well, but I might add an STL with slightly bigger holes when I get a chance.
This rack is 12x10, so there 2 extra rows. I just did this because the rack that I modded https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2820126 to make this came as 12x10, so it was easier. And sometimes its nice to have 2 extra rows.
Note: We recommend using a PCR work-up rack such as the to assist
in properly combining the index primers during the PCR ampli cation step. Alternatively, 96-well deep well plates can be used and aligned against a PCR plate as in the diagram below.

Background
I really wanted to buy a TruSeq Index Plate Fixture (Illumina #FC-130-1005) from Illumina. It was recommended in the NEBNext Multiplex Oligos for Illumina (E7600) manual, and seemed easier than trying to design something to print. Funny thing is, Illumina didn't want to sell it to me, no matter how many times I tried to call or email their customer support.
So I gave up trying to give money to Illumina. Their loss, your gain!
