This clip is like a mirror version of the original Core_Shim. It prevents side parts from falling down and gives mountain structures increased durability.
What it helps with:

your mountain sides don‘t slide down anymore.

You don‘t need a blocking clip for every mountain core because the ones next to it also block cores from sliding down. That saves you a few tiles every mountain structure.

Since the blocking bottom hexes also seem to give the whole structure more rigidity single caps next to mountain cores don’t fall off anymore, at least with my prints. That is very cool.

Since caps-only tiles now have a way of not letting sides slide, you can come up with fun things to slice on 1/2 inch mountain side parts and put them next to core caps to get some nice lvl 0 terrain (new). I was thinking about cutting caps a bit more so they are more plain, but since I would have to adjust all kinds of parts I stuck with level 0 (ground level) special tiles like woods, rough or stuff like that will be a little bit higher than the ground.
I personally use this for Battletech hills.
