While magnetic shoelaces are hardly new, this rethink provides an extremely strong magnetic latching shoelace that practically prevents accidental un-tying. These are strong in both the horizontal and vertical directions - I simply cannot pull them apart "accidentally" no matter how hard I try. A small tab is provided at the edge of the latch which makes it very simple to lift and detach. The mechanism works by using the magnet attraction to hold the parts together, and a ridge/trench mechanism to prevent lateral movement. These work together to hold the mechanism rigid during use and prevent accidental detachment of the laces. You will require 4x neodymium magnets, size 20mm x 10mm x 2mm to glue into the recesses - make sure you get the polarity right!

You need to print two of the STL object - glue in the magnets, and then lace into your shoes like shown in the picture. The picture is an earlier prototype with 4 holes - there are three in the model provided, giving better spacing.
