Designed a faceshield that can be assembled using 3 components (1 printed part, a rubber band/elastic and a plastic poly pocket). Many Poly pockets are biodegradable and have antimicrobial coatings, making them perfect visor material. They are also cheap enough to be disposable, replaced after each use, with the headband having multiple uses.
I found that many designs online required a clear polymer sheet that needed to be cut to exact dimensions to fit the headband. I made a simplified version of the Prusa style headband (and full credit to them for the basic design), adapted to fit standard plastic filing pockets as a visor, and a rubber band to assemble.
Lets help our local clinics, doctors, nurses, hospitals and retirement homes stay VIRUS FREE!!
NO GLUE, SCREWS or CUTTING REQUIRED!!
1 Mask Requires:
1 x Face Shield Headband
1 x Plastic filing pocket (Poly Pocket)
1 x Large Rubber Band
Instructions for assembly:
Fold polypocket into three, to make a 2 creases in the plastic (this will keep the plastic rigid and prevent it touching the face/moving around).
Press the centre stud of the headband into the central hole of the pocket (it will stretch slightly to press fit onto the stud.
stretch the end holes of the pocket onto the 2 studs on either side of the headband (they will be quite tight).
Tie a rubberband or elastic around the hooks at the back of the headband to (change length depending on head size)
Ready to be worn
Replace plastic pocket as required (I would expect multiple uses of the headband are possible)
Disclaimer: This mask is to be used as a last resort, when shortages of face protection are critical. Please follow all advised safety precautions advised by your supervisor/hospital or healthcare provider.
Please send on any feedback in comments and i will work on the design!!!
