By design, Stern Hall is a partial twin of Rosenwald Hall. Built in 1952, Stern is the University’s science building and is named in honor of Edgar Bloom Stern, prominent financier and philanthropist of New Orleans. The building was renovated in 1968 and again in 2006 following Hurricane Katrina. The 2006 renovation included a substantial up-dating of the building’s laboratories. The Division of Natural Sciences and Public Health as well as the Division of Nursing are housed in Stern along with two computer labs, the biology, chemistry and physics labs and a learning center sponsored by the Louisiana Alliance for Minority Participation (LAMP) program. Developed through the DigitalCUrrents summer camp - A collaborative outreach to urban youth by the University of Colorado and Computer Magnet program of Denver Public Schools. This building was modeled by Sarah Yoon a Technology Arts and Media student at the University of Colorado.
