Recently I found a compact mosfet module called “Little Driver” by Digital Sqrt which is designed to switch the high current bed heater remote from the motherboard, which has the advantage of being able to connect the heater directly to the main power supply and not load the main board, which could cause transient pulse problems on the main board. The shorter wire runs and low impedance of the switch allows more power to be delivered to the bed and thus it will heat faster.
The module is far more compact than similar modules from China as is shown in one of the enclosed pictures, which shows this enclosure compared to the enclosure I designed for the Chinese module. I have designed an enclosure to house the “Little Driver” PCB which incorporates a 30mm x 10mm box fan (see picture) which impinges air directly on the mosfet chip. I like to provide 3M metal threads to secure the board into the housing by using pull rivet nuts (see picture) which I press fit into molded holes.
I designed the mounting to attach directly to the “2020” extruded rails that make up the base of most Kossel delta printers using M4x10 screws and M4 hammer T nuts. It can also be secured to any flat surface with suitable M4 or #6 hardware. The mounting holes are on a 40mm x 60mm rectangular pattern. If you need a SLIGHTLY different pattern to mount to existing holes, let me know through the comment section.
The “Little Driver” module is available from Digital Sqrt (digital-sqrt.com). The “Little Driver” board is very well documented on the Website. All other components are available from AliExpress.
