'devastator' class Gunship

as the new battlecruiser was proven to be a success, the next and perhaps final class was needed: The Gunship. a small ship, well armed, speedy, and interstellar. The ' Devastator' was the idea by Col. Cameron Mitchell, who unfortunately died prematurely. he had thought of such a ship for some time, but never completed it. the sketches were found in his personal belongings,and General O'neill had taken care of it. he only recently showed them, and the designers started to fill it in. the old, weak weapons were replaced by new, up to date ones. a better shield was added, the new Jumperdrive installed, and fitted with the latest engines. like the B-2 bomber, it runs mainly on computers and AI's yet still has an old fashioned pilot, navigator, gunner and a commander. it is mostly loved because of its protection and armament, but most people dont like them because they lack equipment for long range. its mostly deployed nearby a resupply vessel, mostly serpents, 304's and battlecruisers. it has four small bays, capable of storing some six Jumpers for resupply and other uses. its sometimes used to house missiles or for extra storage, and it can be used for shelter when needing to extract people form enemy lines #AU #AUfleet #fleet #gateworld #Gunship #ship #space #space_craft #spaceship #Stargate #vessel #virtual
