Our robotics team was cleaning up and we had extra Denso car window motors. I've got a Marvin Casement window in my workshop that I literally have to climb onto my (deep) workbench to open, which is a pain. So my plan is to motorize the window by replacing the crank handle with the motor. This is an adapter from the denso shaft to the marvin crank shaft. I also need to finish the design for an mounting bracket that will hold the motor at the correct angle, but that's a project for another day.
The OpenScad file is included so you could adjust this to other adapters. I had a lot of issues getting it to fit over the two shafts and it may be a little loose for long term use, but it seems to be consistent with how tight the window handle is. There's a fudge-factor parameter that's passed to both spline modules that will make the holes a little larger to adjust for printing variances (I hate measuring something exactly and then entering an adjusted number directly, I'd rather have the actual and show that I'm fudging it). A later revision may include a set screw on one or both ends. The Marvin shaft has a gap in the splines for one, but since the window motor will be mounted firmly to the frame, the adapter will be sandwiched.
I'm a little worried that the 3d printed splines for the window shaft aren't going to hold up. If that's the case, I'll redesign to use one of these adapters http://www.hardwaresource.com/hinges/shutter-window/truth-window-hardware/male-hex-driver-adapter-for-truth-window-operators which slides onto the splines and gives a 5/8" hex shaft to work with. I used these in my previous house with an extension pole and they worked well enough. It'll make the motor sit that much further out from the window.
