There are probably a thousand and one silica gel bottles already available on the internet, so why not one more?? ;-p
I designed this with a few objectives in mind:
The diameter of the bottle (45mm) is designed to fit within a filament spool spindle hole. This is because I store my filament in a round container with the spools laying on their sides. This will allow me to maximise the space for the container.
The design should maximise the amount of holes available to expose as much of the silica gel as possible.
The holes should be small enough that none of the silica gel falls out.
The design should maximise usability (maximise volume of the silica gel, ridges on the cap for better grip).
The print should be (sufficiently) aesthetically pleasing.
The design should facilitate easy printing (no crazy overhangs, no support structures required, etc.).
Note that by the nature of the design, expect tons of retractions from the print, which can be a jamming nightmare on some printers (I had many many failed prints from this design). If you face a lot of issues with it, try tuning down the retractions. I also realised that there is a bug with linear advance in Marlin if you have a very high K value (>200) where the filament gets retracted on very short lengths (which there are a lot in this design) and result in an almost guaranteed jamming. Try a very low K value or completely disable linear advance for this print if you are facing a similar issue.
