Individuals with speech limitations requiring the use of augmentative communication devices to interact with others often have additional disability including low vision or physical disabilities such as spasticity, limited range of motion and limited muscle strength. These additional disabilities can often limit an individuals ability to effectively use an AAC device. The purpose of this keyguard is to isolate icons used for speech to reduce targeting errors and improve effective use of a speech device. They keyguard provides visual cues for individuals with low vision or hand-eye coordination issues to improve targeting. It can also assist speech therapists during evaluations by improving the accuracy of intentional targeting to determine whether the individual can truly access the device. The keyguard can be printed in different colors to enhance contrast and different thicknesses to improve targeting.
This keyguard can be modified in the customizer for any field size in the GoTalk app. It can also be modified for any size device.
