You probably came here because your Z-Endstop screw is too short.
While there are a couple of endstop extenders on Thingiverse, most of them are designed for just one printer model or at least define a certain screw diameter.
This model is more generic. Use the Customizer in Thingiverse or download the model and customize it with the latest version of OpenSCAD (as of July 2018 the development version even features a built-in customizer - just in case the Thingiverse customizer is broken).
When you choose your thread diameter tight enough you can carve out a thread with a thread tap (as shown in the pictures above).
With this model you can adapt the following settings:
Base Diameter (the bottom of the "elephant foot" of the screw extender)
Thread Diameter (screw thread diameter, in order to have a tight fit you should look up the core diameter of your thread or reduce the measured screw diamter a tiny bit)
Foot Height (the actual extension of your screw)
Thread Height (how far you can screw the thread inside the extender)
Thickness (minimum material thickness)
You can also add ticks to the Screw extender which turns out handy when calibrating the endstop. The model features the following options:
Ticks (number of ticks - you best choose a number that correlates with the thread pitch - e.g. M3 screws have a pitch of 0.5 mm, so 5 ticks would give you one tick per 0.1 mm)
Sub Ticks (number of sub ticks per tick)
Tick Height
Sub Tick Height
I hope you enjoy this model.
I would feel privileged to see some of your makes, so please share some photos.
